Just a reminder about our annual fundraiser in a few weeks at the Charleston Women's Club! Especially in light of the recent mid-term elections and Republicans claiming they will repeal health care reform, it's more important than ever to educate and inform the public about what's really in the ACA and how historic and important this legislation is to the "health" of our country's economy and people. Recently, as reported by the Charleston Gazette, the WV Department of Health and Human Resources revised its initial estimates of the expected cost to West Virginia of the national health care reform legislation recently signed into law by President Obama. The initial estimates were suspected by many to be grossly overstated and called into question by several state legislators and the recent revisions by the DHHR show health care reform is indeed affordable and the long-term cost savings will offset the short term increase. President Obama recently signed a very historic piece of legislation into law in March, but the work has just begun! West Virginians for Affordable Health Care is just beginning its public education and awareness campaign to help everyone better understand what health care reform means to you!
