Opportunity in Congress

Make Health Coverage & Care More Affordable

Building on the Affordable Care Act (ACA)

Background on the Opportunity:

The American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), signed into law March 11, included larger premium tax credits that make coverage more affordable for consumers buying ACA Marketplace plans. These improvements are temporary – lasting for only 2 years. We want to see Congress make these changes permanent.

We also want better cost sharing for West Virginias who buy plans on the ACA Marketplace – that means lowering deductibles and out of pocket costs that too often now keep consumers from seeking the health care they need.

More needs to be done to make premiums affordable comes for the uninsured — who cites affordability as the biggest barrier to coverage — and to lower cost barriers for those who get their care on the Marketplace, with over 45 percent of subsidized enrollees in all income brackets reporting some or great difficulty affording  premiums.

For the first time in over ten years, Congress and the President have an opportunity to build on the foundation created by the ACA.  For more background – see HERE

THE ASK:

We are asking you to reach out to Senator Manchin to communicate the urgency of making the larger premium tax credits in ARPA permanent and to reduce out of pocket expenses for West Virginians buying coverage in the ACA Marketplace.
