Virginia Implementation Coalition
The West Virginia Implementation Coalition is a broad based coalition established and staffed by West Virginians for Affordable Health Care. The Coalition includes representation from consumer advocate organizations, the faith-base community, the African-American community, state agencies, and provider organizations. The purpose of the Coalition is to plan the daunting task of implementing the Affordable Care Act in West Virginia, with particular emphasis on developing the health insurance Exchange, expanding Medicaid, and coordinating grant applications.
The Coalition has been meeting every other month since April 2011. Past meetings have heard presentations from the Bureau of Medical Services (Medicaid), the Office of the Insurance Commissioner (the exchange), Region 3 HHS Administrator, Senior Advisor to Secretary Sebelius, a Legislative Aid to Senator Rockefeller, and others. The Coalition is chaired by Dr. Dan Foster a highly respected physician, hospital administrator, and state senator.
